We had dinner at Lolas restaurant. I would of given 5 stars as our meals were lovely, BUT in my opinion, you dont serve a salad with any meal that has gravy with the meat! Gravy and salad do not mix, ever! If green beans were in its place.......then bravo.
Traveled to Ballarat for three nights at The Provincial. As a family with two kids, we booked a two-bedroom apartment with a King bed in the master and two singles in the other. There was plenty of space for my entire family and all our belongings.
Nice modern interior, that still has class and elegance. Plush carpet with thick underlay that is super comfortable to walk on. All exterior windows are covered by plantation shutters and double-glazed that mutes the noise from the nearby railway crossing, however as a light sleeper, it was still loud enough to keep me awake at night. Luckily, the hotel provides earplugs that helped drown out the remaining signal bell but does nothing if/when trains decide to honk.
All the interior doors were also solid core timber that did a superb job blocking out noise from our kids. However, the hinges could use a dose of WD-40, as they were very creaky.
Utensils and tableware are provided, along with a spacious fridge and electric cooktop. Unlike other serviced apartments, the Provincial cleans your dirty dishes daily 👍 There was an oddity with the provided oven tray that didn't fit in the oven, and there is no microwave.
On our first night here, there were some intoxicated individuals outside our room trying to gain entry. While they ultimately gave up, we felt a bit unsafe when there was no 24-hour security and the doors lacked chains or guards for added security.
Overall, a very comfortable stay, 5/5! We'll be back :)
Central location and wonderful old world charm. Comfortable fresh room with very comfortable bed and premium bedding & amenities. Lovely large bathroom and rain shower with good water pressure for total relaxation after a long day. Room was well soundproofed and no sound of traffic etc...to disturb your sleep. Onsite parking.I only wished we could get a nightcap after 8pm at Lola Restaurant. Staff were polite and helpful.
The hotel looked really nice. Room cleanliness was terrible. Found used cups, kettle and bathroom floor was wet when checked-in. Reception closes at 6pm. Found dead flies hidden behind amenities.
Got the spa suite room. Spa wasn't cleaned properly either. Had hair coming out of the pump when started.
Stayed at The Provincial Hotel on Friday night in a balcony suite .
We absolutely enjoyed the room and its abundant comfort .Quality mattress ,extremely clean surroundings gorgeous renovated bathroom with spa bath .
Spacious heritage suite and the luxurious balcony was exciting to sit out on overlooking the station and street .
A unique property and lovely staff ,handy for walking access around town .
The room was thoughtfully decorated with everything we needed for a comfortable stay .
Very pleasant boutique hotel. Attractive furnishings and large room. Lovely on-site restaurant, Lola, which we will try next visit. Across the road from the railway station so would be a nice trip from Melbourne. Easy walk to main area of Ballarat with it’s beautiful historic buildings.
Although we have already given Lola's a review it is worth mentioning how consistently good it is to visit week in week out. The staff here are always exceptional - always service with a smile. This place never disappoints.
The staff at reception were very friendly and the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable
Location to Ballarat's CBD was within walking distance. I thought that the trains being on our doorstep would be an issue but they weren't.
